Join CABA in honoring the amazing individuals and businesses in Cornell and surrounding communities. Nomination forms will be open starting January 31, 2024 and are due by 5 pm February 14, 2024. This is a strict deadline, no exceptions. Paper forms can be printed via the link below or picked up at the Courier office. All paper forms can be mailed or dropped off at the Courier office. Nominations will be voted on by the Cornell Area Betterment Association.

Individuals to be nominated cannot currently be an announced candidate for public office or a current public elected official running for re-election. The nominee selected will be recognized and given a plaque. Nominees should live, work or make a significant impact in the Cornell or Holcombe area. Activities on application must be within the past 5 years.
Nomination Selection Criteria
All nominations will be reviewed by the members of the Cornell Area Betterment Association and will use the criteria listed here to select the award recipients.
Community Leader:
• Cornell area resident or someone who works in Cornell or surrounding communities and has not received this award in the last 5 years.
• Has shown community leadership in addition to his/her vocation or employment
• Individual has demonstrated an active interest and significant involvement within the community and has raised the standards of social responsibility. (Seen as a role model)
Volunteer of the Year:
• Cornell area resident or someone who works in Cornell or surrounding communities and has not received this award in the last 5 years.
• Nomination must be for volunteer work only (non paid time)
• Someone who has made a lasting impact on the community and distinguished themselves through volunteerism in the community going above and beyond their paid profession. They have contributed their talents in helping others through acts of goodwill, without personal gain or monetary compensation.
Legacy Award:
• Cornell area resident or someone who works in Cornell or surrounding communities
• Never received this award before
• Someone who has made an impact on the community over many years time
• May be awarded posthumously
New Venture Award: Can be a business or individual.
• Business, individual or organization that has made an impact on the community within the last 2 years
• Business or individual should be based in or from Cornell area and has never received this award before
• Could be a new program, expansion, service or event held in Cornell Area
Civic Organization:
• Based in Cornell area or makes a significant impact on Cornell area
• Never received this award before
• Non-governmental group, composed mostly of volunteers
• Demonstrate involvement in the community
Business of the Year: (May be divided up to small:1-25 employees and large businesses:26+ employees)
• Based in Cornell area or makes a significant impact on Cornell area
• Have not received this award in the past 5 years
• Demonstrate involvement in the community
