This course is an introduction to inorganic chemistry. Basic math skills are needed to understand and solve chemical equations. Laboratories play an integral part of the course to enhance students’ understanding of major principles.
Students can benefit from knowing about green chemistry by providing them with the basic understanding of the chemistry behind the materials they use, consume, and are surrounded by every day. This basic understanding will allow them to make better decisions based on this knowledge or a direction in which they can find out more information. The knowledge from a class that includes green chemistry as an underlying foundation will provide the background to have students become better informed in decisions or conversations that may occur in their future, such as political debates, dinner conversations, editorial pieces, home or business property decisions, home or business operational decisions, transportation decisions, cosmetic decisions, and many other areas which are typically thought of as not relating to chemistry. Green chemistry is not an additional section of chemistry to be covered, but a lens to focus our current chemistry curriculum through that will provide a more relatable, equitable, focused experience for the topics covered in our chemistry class that can be applied to personal, community, and global decisions of today and tomorrow.
Be sure to check Google Classroom daily. Assignments are your responsibility to get done on time. Assignments are entered on the day assigned and are due the following class, unless noted. If an assignment is not available on Google Classroom, there will be a copy left in the class bin and will be due the class following your return.
Need help? I am available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after school for extra help. Also, NHS students are available for extra help. Here's a link to their website: http://nipmucnhs.weebly.com
