Introduction to Impact Evaluation

I periodically teach an introductory impact evaluation course at the Economics Department of the University of Dar es Salaam, the African School of Economics, and at the Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF).

The course is largely based on a course by University of California, Berkeley's Jack Colford and Paul Gertler, as well as materials from CEGA's Alexandra Orsola-Vidal and Paul Gertler that has great resources on impact evaluation including methods, survey design, power calculations, and research transparency.

Access all lectures, readings, and other materials here.

Please also find this great Wiki by the World Bank's Development Impact Evaluation (DIME) group here.

For those interested in STATA training please click here for a course by Angela Ambroz for Twaweza. There is also a great resource "cheat sheet" guide here that was recommended by Marc F. Bellemare.

For anyone interested in my job talk titled, "Gods and Kings: The Long-Run Effect of Political and Religious Institutions on Religion in Africa" delivered on Wednesday, January 18th at the Department of Political Science at the University of California, Irvine then please find below:

The full dissertation, which is titled, "Three Essays In African Politics" can be downloaded here.
