Introduction: Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, I began my teaching career with fifth and sixth graders as Miss Spicer in this very school. Since that time, I have taught many subjects to students in grades K-12, here, at Marian Catholic High High School, and as a sub in the Chula Vista Elementary School District. Both of my children are alumni of St. Rose, and I have been blessed to teach the children and now grandchildren of many of my former students. I earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees as well as a California multiple subject and two single subject (social sciences and history) teaching credentials at the University of San Diego. I am a George Washington Life Guard Teacher Fellow and a Monticello Teacher Institute Barringer Fellow (2014) and was a participant in the Society of the Cincinnati American Revolution Master Teachers Program (2013) held in Washington, DC, the George Washington Teacher Institute at Mount Vernon (2015 & 2017), and National Endowment for the Humanities Landmarks seminars, Crossroads of the American Revolution: Lexington and Concord (2015), Graffiti Houses: The Civil War from the Perspective of the Individual Soldiers (2016), NEH Seminar: Thomas Jefferson, the Public and Private Worlds of Monticello and the UVA (2019), and the Colonial Williamsburg Teacher Institute (2019). I have also been a speaker at CUE (Computer Using Educators) conferences. My favorite subjects to teach are really those in the humanities, but I love how technology helps students learn in new and collaborative ways.
