Compact Stars - São Paulo
The Compstar - SP group is devoted to the study of compact stars, strange quark matter, supernovae and GRBs, i. e., to investigate matter in its most extreme forms found in Nature. Members are researchers working in the state of São Paulo, Brazil (USP, ITA, INPE, UNIFESP, IFSP and UFABC).
Recently the number of researchers in this field has grown considerably. Our group has received a FAPESP Thematic Project financing from 2008 to 2013, resulting in over 30 papers published, 5 PhD thesis and 8 MSc dissertations, and has been granted a second FAPESP Thematic Project which started in 2014.
Our group has been actively involved in the organization of two international Workshops in Brasil: “Compact Stars in the QCD Phase Diagram III” and “26th Texas Symposium on Relativistic Astrophysics”, and of IWARA 2009 with the wide participation of international members of the Compact Objects community.
We were part of the CompStar initiative as an associated member and were invited to be part of the NewCompStar, recently approved by the EU for 4 years of financing.
If you want to join us, opportunities are available for MSc, PhD and post-doctoral supervisions at the institutions listed above. Please contact us for more information.
