Coker Hills has two neighborhood public schools - Estes Hills Elementary and Phillips Middle Schools, which feed to East Chapel Hill High School.
The Chapel Hill Public Library is a short walk away, as are the walking and biking paths of Pritchard Park and the Booker Creek and Bolin Creek Greenways.
Shopping, dining, entertainment, and services are in walking or short driving distance. These include University Place (formerly University Mall), Ram's Plaza, Village Plaza, Eastgate Crossing, and Elliott Square. The year round Chapel Hill Farmers' Market and Carrboro Farmers' Market are nearby, as are major supermarkets including Whole Foods, Wegmans, Harris Teeter, The Fresh Market, and Food Lion.
