Cois Barry Community House is a community centre run on a voluntary basis by local residents and part-time employees.
The centre provides facilities for people of all ages and backgrounds. Fun activities are running weekly, you can check or activities page or visit us in Rosslare Strand! The house was built in 2005 and is owned by Wexford County Council. The centre is available to all residents of Rosslare Strand and surrounding areas.
We provide an array of activities and training programs. Our goal is to connect people in the local community and provide a way to make all of our lives better.
As a community centre, we do so much good, but we need your help to spread the word about all the amazing services and courses / workshops we offer. We rely on funding and donations and have no means to invest in any kind of advertising. Please share with your friends and family what we do and where we are. We would love to see the place packed with people and to promote communication face to face and helping each other.
Cois Barry Community House will ensure we will be taking all possible precautions to keep everyone safe whilst participating in our activities.
HYGIENE – Visitors should use the hand sanitiser provided for at the entrance. We also provide antiseptic wipes, disposable gloves and disposable masks. It is also important to wash hands for the prescribed 20 seconds wherever possible, before and after meals and after using the bathroom. Visitors should practice good cough/sneeze etiquette and use tissues whenever possible; these should be disposed of safely in a bin as soon as it is practical to do so.
CONTACT TRACING – We use a contract tracing log for visitors and require all attending a class to sign up before class.
FACE COVERING – You may be asked to wear a face covering or mask when indoors. Face covering or masks are not mandatory to be worn indoors, but it is preferable especially in situations of close contact or inability to maintain social distancing.
ILLNESS – If you or a member of your group is showing any of the coronavirus symptoms; fever, dry cough or fatigue, please do not join the classes. In addition, if you have been confirmed as having coronavirus in the last 3 weeks, please do not join the classes. In either of the above cases should you have paid ahead, you will be given a refund.
EQUIPMENT – We provide tea and coffee facilities and it is the responsibility of the visitor to properly wash and dry any utensils used – e.g. mug or spoon. There is also a strict no-sharing utensils protocol in place.
Visitors should acknowledge that taking part in our activities does pose an increased risk of contracting Covid-19 and should accept responsibility for their own hygiene/safety.
We ran a lovely workshop in collaboration with Wexford Local Development and MediasKool from Gorey. You can hear Fran Ryan talking in an interview about Wexford Local Development staring at 16min 16sec. There is a suggestion there that a Game Jam in the centre would be something interesting for young people. We might just do that in 2019!
To learn more about the community centre and the plans, you can listen to David Clancy at 20mins 20sec.
