Nuts !
Please note Castleknock Community College is a Nut Free Zone. There is an important medical reason for this. so please do not take nuts or any nut derived products,i.e. sweets/treats containing nuts at the school.
Insurance.
As the insurance situation changed, we took out our own public Liability insurance for the year. We are on thr lookout for sponsorship of approx 380 euro to cover this annual cost. Any suggetions, please contact coderdojocastleknock@gmail.com
Data collected on tickets.
The name,age and gender on the ticket should be of the child. This information is used to;
- Create sign-in/out sheets ( so we can account for everyone )
- Create stats to determine
- average age ( so other parent can determine a suitable course )
- gender breakdown as we try to appeal to everyone.
- Achievement certificate at end of term

Description

A class for 8+ . Ninjas younger than 12 must have a parent in the building and parents are welcome to help them in the class .
Aimed at beginners.

Introduction to phone app development with App Inventor
class size 16
Description
Suitable for beginners. Improvers from last year are welcome and will be able to work on their own projects where subjects are repeated. You will create 'apps' on Android mobile phones using App Inventor ( See http://appinventor.mit.edu/explore/ )

Introduction to microelectronics with Arduino
class size 16
Description
Min age limit 11yrs old - No electronics experience is necessary - but students should be familiar with laptop operation - file system etc. We will cover circuitry and Arduino software coding. The Arduino kits are provided; A laptop is required. You will have opportunity to buy at cost Arduino kit at end of classes.
I have started to order some kits from China to sell on, note this will be at a signifient discount.
Aimed at confident beginners/ also those who want to stretch.

Whats coolest projects ?
Planning meeting
We will have a planning meeting for Monday 18th Feb at the school with a single item on agenda - What do we want to do after this term, fold or continue.
Why ?
Our Champion is stepping away at the end on the coming term, after coleading /leading CoderDojo Castleknock since 2014. This is an opportunity to hand the reigns over. If nobody wish's to takeover, then we will wind things down.

Bring yourself, a laptop, enthusiasm and if doing App Inventor a android ( apple will not do ) phone on Monday 28th with your ticket.
