Fourteen. Self Evident Truths
It’s just a workout. Eat and drink appropriately. Don’t go to extremes.
Follow mom’s rules first: (a.) Eat breakfast. (b.) Eat three meals. (c.) If hungry 1 hour after eating, eat more protein. (d.) Water should be the major beverage. (e.) There’s nothing more fiber can’t cure.
More Rules: (1.) The hours slept before midnight are more valuable than the hours slept after midnight. (2.) Always consider the cost to benefit ratio. Don’t worry about supplements if you don’t even buckle your seatbelt. (3.) Be careful what you wish for, it just might come true. Take a look around the mall, it’s easy to put on fifty pounds.
There’s pain and there’s injury. Learn the difference. Pain comes in all forms. Leave it alone for a while and it goes away. Injured is different. Surgery is nature’s way of slowing us down. Injuries require medical attention and often, medical intervention. Soreness, bruises and scraped knees do not fall into this category.
One of the big signs of injury is that it doesn’t hurt..right away. To prevent it from becoming a surgery: (1) Stop what you are doing. (2) Go see somebody who can help. (3) Listen. (4) Do what they say.
That’s not what they meant. Train normally. Seek adaptations slowly. Get the big lifts done. Strive for more weight and more reps with more weight. Get to the source and listen.
What’s done first defines your training. Keep a food log. Work legs first (squats and deadlifts or realistic variations.) The first 10% of training will determine our level of success over the long haul.
