Eight. Classic Top Ten List
Tips for athletes:
Use Whole body lifts. Rarely isolate.
Constantly strive to add weight to the bar and lift it faster.
The best anabolic is water.
Did you eat breakfast? Then don’t ask anything about nutrition.
If you smoke or don’t wear your seat belt then don’t say the olympic lifts are dangerous.
Go heavy. Go hard.
Keep it simple. Less is more.
You have to put the bar over your head.
Put the bar on the floor and pick it up in a number of different ways.
Know and love the roots of your sport.
Warnings and Lessons:
Beware of things that make no sense. (Try breathing through your eyes. It will bring clarity.)
Beware of the real estate professor who doesn’t own real estate. (Beware of advice from someone who doesn’t put it into practice)
Beware of overkill
Everything works for about 2-6 weeks. Think tweaks to the program, not an overhaul.
Build a foundation of basic strength. If healthy and fit we should strive to be able to do a two times bodyweight deadlift and a bodyweight bench press. We need to have basic strength to support advanced training. If we don’t have it, get it.
It’s our parent’s fault. Now get back to work. There’s nothing we can do about it.
Stand on the shoulders of greatness. Whatever we are striving for, it has been done before.
Train outside. We need to go outside and train more.
Have some fun.
Have some passion. Passion is to suffer for love. Winners learn to live with hurt. To generate passion in the older athlete: travel to a lot of meets; hang out with competition for long periods after; read / watch everything you can about the sport; travel, hang out and learn some more; spend money on your sport.
