Chapter 11. Fifth question. How old are you? Where you are in time and space can help tell you where you are in training
Quadrant I (low level, many qualities) - Under 18 and in High School. Try out everything to figure out what you were meant to be. The occasional musts in life: learn to ride a bike, swim, tumble
Quadrant II (high level, less qualities) - 18+ and in a sport where you earn a living or a combat type occupation. Master your technique and engage every ounce of energy in maintaining your presences in that sport. Scholarship athletes are included in this little window
Quadrant III (low level, less qualities)- 18+ and not making a living in sport. We are in a lifesaving war against the loss of lean body mass and mobility. Nearly all of us are in Quadrant III and in desperate need for more mobility and strength work. Fight the good fight. Life, lard, and laziness are all conspiring against us. Don’t act our age but train our age. Do everything we can to keep or increase lean body mass and maintain the right amount of mobility.
Quadrant IV (high skill, many qualities) - 18+ and in collision sports, certain occupations (combat, etc.)
