Don't Just Sit There by Katy Bowman
The Program
MOVE. There is no single best work posture. Change positions frequently. Mix things up over the course of the day--sit, stand stretch, move. Consider a variable keyboard.
BREAK. Take outdoor strolls often or just hang out on the monkey bar.
MELLOW OUT: Minimize the amount of artificial light in our environment. Use natural light whenever possible. After dark minimize screen use and artificial light.
SIT WELL: Take a seat with the pelvis in neutral to create optimal alignment from the tailbone to the head. Use the muscles to keep the body upright. Use a seat instead of a chair.
STAND WELL. Load the body efficiently and maintain the long axis of the body stacked vertically. Pelvis neutral, ribs down, knees neutral, thighs rotated and head ramped up. Use minimalist or no shoes.
