There is nothing spectacular about me to really tell.
I am a graduate from the University of Maryland, College Park, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Performing Arts - Clarinet Performance. I studied clarinet under Edward Walters while attending there, until my 4th year when he discovered what I had been telling him all along: I am a bass clarinetist. I had to study Bb clarinet, but my area of concentration was the low clarinet family.
I have been playing clarinet since 5th grade (1992?), and switched to contralto clarinet in middle school. In high school, I ended up expanding to many other clarinets, and other instruments for that matter, and even played bass guitar in jazz band. I studied with MUSM Michael McDonald of the US Navy band starting my sophomore year until I left for college.
I have been a member of the clarinet bulletin board since high school, and have been known as "contragirl." YES THAT'S ME! I don't post as much anymore, but I sill linger in there on occasion.
I occasionally perform with the New England Youth Ensemble and Washington Adventist University band, whom I had performed with since 2002. I have had many performing opportunities with the group including 2 Carnegie Hall performances, Strathmore Hall, and multiple tours abroad including South Africa, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.
I have always been interested in strange and different instruments, and even considered studying Organology. Now I just work in a library that has nothing to do with music, and I haven't gotten to play as much as I would like. This site is just a hobby, and this is the first time I have updated it and reorganized it in a really long time! The site has been around since about 2002, under many different hosts.
My current hobby is to collect the clarinets I could never afford when I was younger, and normally don't have a use for.
You can look me up on my personal site.
