Youth

The City Heights UMC has groups for the youth 7th through 12th grades to join and participate in a great variety of activities. Many of our activities are church sponsored, but sometimes the youth are required to pay their own way. We give every youth the opportunity to raise his/her money to participate in any of our activities.
Our youth minister is Renee Henson. Our ministry is also staffed by teen-loving adult volunteers who lead groups, perform skits, and have a ton of fun with our teens.

United Methodist Youth Fellowship
Our youth ministry is committed to impacting youth with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. The youth group allows the kids a chance to get together with others and have fun and at the same time develop into young adults that are ready to serve their church and community. You don't have to be a member of the church to participate. Our youth ministry is growing and it is an exciting time at City Heights , so come to a meeting or an activity and bring a friend, all are welcome, but be ready to have a good time and meet great people.
City Heights Youth meets every Wednesday from 5:30-7:30 p.m., except major holidays. The youth meet for supper every Wednesday night at 5:30 in the fellowship hall (along with the children and adults). Supper begins at 5:30 with the program starting at 6:00. Grades 7 - 12 Youth come together for recreation, small group sharing, projects, contests, games, singing and more!

If you have questions about the youth group, please contact our youth director
Renee Henson.

Confirmation Class
This is a special time to begin a journey of faith that nurtures and challenges preteens to think about the nature of God, the life of Christ and learn about Methodist beliefs. The confirmation class offers each child an opportunity to confirm their baptism and join the church as full members. If you would like more information about the confirmation class, please contact Pastor Randy Miller.

Ozark Mission Project (OMP)
If you hang around the youth much, it won't be long until someone mentions Ozark Mission Project. This is one of our main activities for the year. Each youth is required to raise a portion of the fee. OMP is a unique camping experience that brings together youth and adults for service in the spirit of Christ, to people who are in need of some handiwork and friendly visiting. All camps take place in Arkansas. Look here for more information.
Summer Program

During the summer months, the church hires a youth intern to keep the gym open for our youth that are inactive during the summer. Once a week, our intern will plan a bible study lesson or field trip. Most other days, the gym is open. They can play basketball, video games or work on the computers.

Church Camp
What would summer break be without church camp?
Every summer, City Heights takes the youth and children to Shoal Creek (located only about an hour from Van Buren) for a 3 day camp. Our camp ministry is to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and to engage children to discover how wonderfully God has created them through organized play, music, story telling and art.
Be sure to check our calendar as Summer gets closer, so you won't miss out on this great camping experience.
