Sediment and Erosion Control Research and Education Facility
The Sediment and Erosion Control Research and Education Facility (SECREF), is part of the North Carolina State University Extension Program. I help to run the Erosion, Sediment, and Turbidity Control Program that consists of a variety of field days and workshops as well as specialized certification trainings for individuals working on North Carolina Department of Transportation projects.
We continually investigate the effectiveness of various approaches to erosion, sediment, and turbidity control on actual construction sites. Education is a critical part of my role, including full workshops, targeted trainings, fact sheets, and presentations at local, state, and national programs. We also provides technical support for both public and private organizations involved in erosion and sediment control on construction sites.
