DUDHSAGER
Literally transalate as ‘a sea ts milk’, Dhudsagar is listed among the nation’s 10 tallest waterfalls. The monsoon is the best time to vist the fall, as the gushing water cascade over the giant boulders pouring majestically into the gorge below. The trek begins from the Collem railway station, from where one is required to obediently follow the railway tracks. On crossing many little streams and walking through tunnels one reaches Dudhsagar. The roaring of the water and sight of the majestic white, foamy waterfalls is an overfalls is an overwhelming sight.
MAINAPI
The gushing Mainapi waterfall is located in the ecologically rich Netravali wildlife sanctury. To reach the Mainapi waterfall, one is required to trek through forested area. The last kilometer or two is particularly steep. A relatively moderate trek, the trails are buzzing with a variety of birds and butterflies. One can spot various kinds of wild flowers and berries along the way.
MOREPILLA
On the border of quepem and cancona in south-Goa lies the sleepy village of Morpilla. A trek up to the Hanuman temple at the top of the hill is gradual, steady climb. The gardient as One approaches the peak is particularly steep, but the view at the top is well worth the effort. The top of the Moepilla hills offers a bird’s eye view of the surrounding villages and the emerald green cover.
SONAL AND SAVARI WATERFALLS IN NETRAVALI
It is the tricky routes which are the most fun to conquer. A trek to the Sonal and Savari waterfalls in remote areas of the Netravali wildlife sanctuary is relatively difficult, but a joy to complete. The trible communities of this area maintain sacred groves and sacred waterfalls to this day. The Savari waterfall is one of serveral sacred honey reservoirs of the forest. Honey is extracted from the honeycombs hanging precariously under the ridge’s rocks , only after the completion of due ceremonial and sacred religious rituals.
TAMBDI SURLA
A trek to Tambdi Surla waterfall located near the historically famous and stunningly exquisite Mahadev temple in Tambdi Surla is an interesting route. One is required to wade through small creeks, dese growth and steep inclines. Make it a point to stop by the rocky banks of a flowing stream near the temple for a quick dip in its cool waters.
