Jerry Lam was born in Hong Kong 1978. He was raised in a family of 4 members. He finished his grade five in a Chinese primary school (Salesian Yip Hon Primary School) at year 1991 then his family moved to Montreal, Quebec, Canada at October 1991. He finished his primary school (Saint-Lambert) and his high school (Ecole Secondaire Lemoyne d'Iberville) in french. He then pursued a Health Science Diploma at Vanier College where he graduated with both Excellence and Honor at year 1999.
To broaden his knowledge, he moved to Waterloo, Ontario to obtain a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Computer Engineering at University of Waterloo. At May 2004, He received his degree and graduated in honour with distinction (top 10% of all graduate students of year 2004). After working 2 years in a broadband network equipment company (Sandvine Inc.), he moved to Toronto, Ontario to join the Vision and Eye Movements Research Laboratory under the supervision of Professor Eizenman and Professor Aarabi at University of Toronto for his master of applied science degree. With the collaboration of the hospital of Sick Kids, his research was to develop a medical imaging device by innovating and applying computer vision, image processing and pattern recognition algorithms to assess human visual functions and it was funded by Ontario Graduate Scholarship and NSERC Canadian Graduate Scholarship. His M.A.Sc. work is now being used to study and assess the visual development of preverbal subjects.
From 2008 to May 2010, Jerry worked full-time as a software consultant at Cluster Technology Limited. He is mainly responsible for developing enterprise solutions for Grid/Cloud computing, leading the design of scalable and high-throughput systems for financial services, and participating in technical sales activities (i.e. architect solutions for customers and perform proof of concepts). Beside the daily job responsibility, he was also an active research associate at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
From June 2010, after revisiting his personal mission statement, Jerry decided to cultivate his career in healthcare with the objective to empower people through mobile technology and electronic health record (EHR) to make better informed choices about their health and wellness. He is now at Toronto, Canada.
