Chess at Streatham Library

Welcome to the Chess at Streatham Library website. We are a friendly group of chess enthusiasts who meet every Tuesday at Streatham Library to play, learn and improve. If you’re interested in our challenging and beguiling game why not join in - we’ll be delighted to see you and there’s nothing to pay.

Chess at Streatham Library is a community initiative, run by volunteers, to encourage enjoyment of chess. Our aim is to create a stimulating and fun environment where people of all ages and backgrounds can meet up, improve their understanding of the game, enjoy each other’s company... and of course play lots of chess.

We started 15 years ago, and since 2015 we’ve been able to use the Library’s smart and spacious community centre.

Click here to find out more about us, and here for details of when and where we play.

Chess at Streatham Library remains suspended while the Mark Bennett Streatham Centre is being used for Covid-19 testing.
