Nantwich Historical Society was established by J Herbert Rowsell MA, the then Headmaster of Nantwich Grammar School, in November1969, making the current season the Society’s 56th.
The Society continues to remember and celebrate the huge contribution to both Nantwich and the Society itself by Herbert, who remained as Founding Chairman from the inception of the Society until his death in September 2022.
The inaugural Herbert Rowsell Memorial Lecture takes place at the first meeting of this season and will be an annual fixture thereafter.
