This Group was founded over 40 years ago, with the object of researching local history, organising talks, and visits to places of interest. A history of the two villages was first published in 1988, with a revised edition published in 2006. Connected with Cheshire Local History Association and numerous other local groups, it is ideal for anyone wanting to know more about where they live – we are sure to know someone who can answer almost any question. Nor are we only local in interest; we have had talks on Pre-Raphaelites, Lacemaking, Rivers, Railways, Verdun, Roman Chester, Folk Medicines etc, etc. Did you know about our medieval pottery kilns, or how significant the Battle of Rowton Moor really was – and where it actually started ?
