The following was a field trip report about the water pollution problem of Ho Chung Stream, Sai Kung (西貢 蠔涌) while I was studying Form 6S Biology Stream in Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Lee Ching Dea Memorial College back in 1985. I think the trip was organized by a government department the name which I could not recall.
The report was prepared with software Wordstar and possibly Printshop (I couldn't quite remember) in an Apple ][ computer provided by the school in its office. The field trip also coverd the mangrove area in Sai Kung.
The stream is now completely cleaned up. Its pollution problem was mainly sewage from pig/chicken farms upstream and a textile dyeing factory at its mouth.
This report was typed into the computer only by me and Lee Sang-hyun, a South(?) Korean, was quite proficient with Apple ][ computers. He wrote programs (BASIC?) to print Korean fonts for his church. Back in 1985, even Chinese fonts were either not available or unpopular. Of course, personal computers were very expensive back then and not as popular as nowadays. Mr. Lee later headed to USA to study theology.
We both were comittee(?) members of the Computer Club of the school.
