With studetns that need extra help in the classroom, I will provide multiple different strategies to allow them to succeed.
Strategies:
Pre-tests: Pre-tests and assessments are a great way for me to see what my students need to learn most in the lesson. It will guide my lesson and give me input on which students might struggle in certain areas. With the students I see that might struggle, I will accomadate for them and the class and provide extra activites that can enrich their understadning. For example, I would provide a worksheet that is hands on and can hekp students identify the content.
Surveys: At the end of each lesson I will provide a learning survey on the lesson and see what could be changed for them to understand better and how I could include that. Also how they felt about the lesson. This will then be followed with the pre-test and post test, giving me the best way to know if my students understand what they learned.
Exit Slips: Exit slips are great for teacher feedback and how well your students are understanding what is being taught. It will help me see what I need to teach more or less of, it will enhance students understanding and allow them to end the class thinking about the content. The same question will be asked at the beginning of class to refresh their memories. I will not only give an exit slip to the student but I will also give each student's parent or guardian a slip as well, being that the students are as young as they are. Once the exit slips are filled out, I will have the students personally explain their reasoning to me, so it prevents copying in the classroom. As for the parents or guardians, I will have them bring their sheet in at the end of the year conference and have them explain their feelings to me as well.
-- These are just a few of the many strategies that will be implemented in my classroom to help all students succeed. I will include more things like; essential questions, bell ringers, note summaries, and more. This keeps the class focussed on the content.
