The Lions Club of Cessnock has begun distributing Emergency Medical Information Booklets in the Cessnock area, which are designed, in conjunction with the Ambulance Service, to enable people with medical conditions to keep their updated medical information in a readily accessible location in case of an emergency.
Ambulance officers know to look for such a booklet on the refrigerator door when called to a household emergency. The information, which the owner should keep updated when they visit doctors, includes history of medical conditions, current medications and next of kin contact details.
The booklets come in a plastic sleeve with magnets, and attach to the refrigerator. They are available at West Cessnock Pharmacy. This project, which has been running in other parts of Australia for over 10 years, has been made possible by the Cessnock Lions Club and a gold coin donation to the Lions would be appreciated.
