The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (the ABC) is a taxpayer-funded broadcasting organization and is the Australian equivalent of the UK BBC. In addition to news reportage the ABC (TV, radio and On-line) has a key role in Australia's cultural life through involvement in the Arts (especially music and films), public education and public discourse in numerous areas through numerous programs.
Affectionately known to its supporters as "Aunty", the ABC has an important role in a country in which most of the print media are owned by either the Murdoch or Fairfax media empires and Rupert Murdoch's New Limited has 70% of the daily newspaper readership. False, unethical, biased and indeed criminal reportage has led to calls for a boycott of Murdoch media world-wide (see "Boycott Murdoch Media":

The ABC has traditionally trodden a path of "balance" between the 2 major political groups in Australia, namely the the Liberal Party-National Party Coalition (Right) and the Australian Labor Party (ALP) (Left) (collectively known as the Lib-Labs). However a huge shift to the Right by Labor has meant that the ABC now typically positions itself between the Right and the Extreme Right.
The ALP has become dominated by neoconservative, pro-American and pro-Zionist "pushes" to the extent that the party that was once anti-war, pro-human rights, anti-racist and pro-environment has become pro-war, human rights abusing, pro-Zionist, racist, pro-coal, pro-gas, pro-logging, pro-Educational Apartheid, pro-American Imperialism, anti-environment and anti-science.The ALP has become Another Liberal Party, an Alternative Liberal Party, an Apartheid Labor Party, an Apartheid Israel-supporting Party, an American Lackey Party, an Anti-Environment Labor Party, an Anti-Science Labor Party, an Anti-Education Labor Party and a spin-driven Australian Lying Party.
The ABC has correspondingly lurched to the Right to the detriment of sensible, informed public discussion in Australia and indeed the very independence of Australia. More seriously, a Neocon American and Zionist Imperialist (NAZI)-beholden ABC has now developed an entrenched culture of censorship, self-censorship, lying by omission, lying by commission, holocaust ignoring and genocide ignoring.
A window on the grievous deficiencies of the ABC is provided by the ABC itself. When you Google "ABC News" and go the ABC News Homepage (see: http://www.abc.net.au/news/) you will find a "Search ABC" device at the top right hand corner. This enables one to search "the entire ABC site" for what the ABC reports, does not report and no longer reports.
By way of example, since 2001 Australia has been involved with the US Alliance in the Afghan War that as of 2011 had been associated with 4.2 million avoidable deaths from war-imposed deprivation, an estimated 1.4 million violent deaths (based on Iraq war comparisons), 2.9 million under-5 infant deaths (90% avoidable and due to gross US Alliance violation of the Geneva Convention that demands that an Occupier must supply life-sustaining food and medical services to a conquered people) and 3-4 million refugees - an Afghan Holocaust and an Afghan Genocide as defined by Article 2 of the UN Genocide Convention (see "Afghan Holocaust, Afghan Genocide":

If one does an ABC Search for the terms "Afghan Holocaust": and "Afghan Genocide" one finds no reportage by the ABC of these atrocities - you obtain 4 and 7 links respectively (April 2012) but none of these are due to ABC reportage, all of these relating to comment thread listener postings by anti-war, humanitarian writer Dr Gideon Polya. In contrast to zero ABC reportage of this immense atrocity, Google Searches for the terms "Afghan Holocaust": and "Afghan Genocide" yield (April 2012) 14,000 and 25,000 results, respectively.

War is the penultimate in racism and genocide the ultimate in racism. It is very powerful to quote expert opinion.
