Another application suited to the cell-writing process is 'Foldout'. This is produced by 'Excessively Productive' and can be downloaded free from their website.
Instead of cells of the sort that one gets on a spreadsheet, strips into which text can be entered appear on screen. This produces a vertical series of cells which can then be re-ordered and indented as appropriate. These strips have word-wrapping, so one always sees all of the text that has been entered.
The application is keyboard-oriented, so not all the uses to which one would put mouse pointing are necessarily available. I'm not entirely sure whether the application is completely bug-free. The version I tried was 1.0.1. So, one can say that the application is perhaps still in its infancy. When I first tried it, there were a few glitches. This may just have been due to my lack of experience with it and me being more mouse than keyboard-orientated. Subsequent use has not proved problematic.
It has the great benefit of being largely 'distraction-free'... and, of course, it's free.
