Research

We are a synthetic group with interests across chemistry and chemical engineering.

Flow Photochemistry

We are using our flow photoreactor in a number of different photoreactions ranging from Flow Photochemical Heterocyclic Metamorphosis (FP-HM) to the synthesis of novel antibiotics.

Ligands for Nuclear Elemental Separations

We are using variations of the CyMe4-BTPhen ligands to perform elemental separations of interest to the Nuclear Industry for environmental remediation. We have developed a series of immobilized examples using silica and magnetic nanoparticles for our future applications.

Continuous Processing and Technology

We have much experience in continuous flow with applications ranging from drug syntheses and multi-phase reactions, through to nano-particle synthesis.

Catalysis

We have a long-standing interest in the development of new transition-metal based catalytic methods. The harnessing of base metals such as Fe, Co, Ni or Cu is particularly attractive due to their unusual reactivities and low-cost compared to Pd, Rh or Ir.
