This document is a simple summary of how CCA points are awarded and computed. It provides some basic information about grading system. For a more comprehensive overview, the cadet may wish to clarify with the teacher-officer or HOD/PE for further.
Joining NCC require serious committments. As a mandatory CCA for schools, joining the NCC means NCC is regarded as the cadet's MAIN CCA. Any other CCA is then deemed secondary. Any cadets who quit early or terminate his/her service will lose all his/her points and affect the points in the secondary CCA (if any).
1. The penalty of quitting NCC prematurely is heavy. Any cadet who quit before the official graduation result in loss of the accumlated CCA points over the past years of the service.
2. The current CCA grading is based on the LEAPS guidelines drafted by CCAB and is computed annually by the MOE computer system.
3. In order to obtain the full point for that year, a cadet needs to obtain an attendance rate of at least 75%. If the attendance falls below 75%, the CCA points may be fortfeited or annulled.
4. The table below outlines the CCA point system that is used for grading under the LEAPS guidelines.
5. For each year of active participation, a cadet will earn 1 point. Max. point is 4.
6. A cadet will be awarded with additional points with each promotion during the 4/5 years. The table below shows the points a cadet may get for each promotion.
7. Using a simple illustration to explain, a cadet from the express stream who attains the rank of 3SG and have faithfully participated and attended all events (school-based and HQ-based) with an attendance rate of 95% will get earn a total of 8 points. 8 points will be equivalent to C6 grade.
Bonus Points
8. Bonus points are awarded based on the grade attained and they can be used for admission to
a. the three year pre-university course in a centralised institute or
b. junior colleges. Note that the minimum entry requirements to JC remain unchanged or
c. polytechnic courses.
The table below shows the bonus points for the grade obtained.
How to earn extra CCA points?
9. Cadets who represent school in competing in HQ organised competitions will earn extra CCA points.
10. Cadets who take part in CIP work and accumulate CIP hours will be awarded with extra CCA points.
11. Cadet who manage a second CCA without jeopardising NCC performance will earn extra CCA points.
