I will send you a formal email asking for something (making a business request). You must reject, and give me a negative message (the worse the news, the better!).
· You should respond using BOTH a direct and indirect approach.
· Write directly in the email, you don't have to attach any documents. Reply using FORMAL style.
· Please write your NAME and STUDENT NUMBER on the Subject of the email when you are replying!
This assignment will be evaluated based on how bad your bad news is, how creative you are, the level of formality of your reply and how well you follow the guidelines for Direct and Indirect.

Email from You to Me
a) Direct
Dear Mr. Jan,
Thank you for your email.
Unfortunately the latest iphone 5 is not available in Korea at this time. Apple is focusing their promotion in Europe and US now, and can only make their latest products available here after Christmas.
We could put you on the top of the waiting list for the new Touch. Alternatively, would you be interested in our iphone 4s? It's on a 30% discount now. Please let me know if you are interested.
Sincerely,
John Doe

b) Indirect
Dear Mr. Jan,
Thank you for your email, it is good to know people are already interested in our latest products.
As you mentioned, the latest iphone was just released 5 days ago and has been receiving overwhelming response. Apple is currently understocked serving the US and Europe markets, and unfortunately have to focus our supplied there.
Therefore we regret to inform you that it will only be available in Seoul after Christmas.
We'll be sure to put your name on the top of our waiting list for the new iphone 5, but in the mean time, we are offering our iphone 4s at a 30% discount. Please let us know if you are interested in that offer, or need more details.
Sincerely,

Negotiation Short Report
One page report (350 words or less) about what you’ve learned.
You must mention each negotiation cycle you participated in, how it went and what you learned from it.
Example of things you can talk about:
How did this activity impact you?
What did you learn? What was the most useful and least useful lessons?
The learning can be:
Positive (“I learned how to use this strategy…”),
Negative (“I learned this strategy failed…”)
Reflective (“I learned how to use this strategy…”)
Observations (“I learned this about other people… about this situation…) or more
Assessment is based on the quality of things you say, not the quantity. Simple and careless work will score low (a bad example is “I learned I must practice more.. I learned negotiation skills are important…”)
