House of Galileo

House of Galileo

Galileo Galilei lived from 1564-1642.  He worked in the field of earth science, which is the study of the features of plant Earth and its solar system.  Earth scientists study the rocky parts of Earth's crust, marine and freshwater ecosystems, weather and climate, and astronomy.

Galileo Galilei began his university studies at an early age.  He showed promise and even determined the Law of the Pendulum which was eventually used to regulate clocks.  Galileo Galilei also made many inventions in his lifetime.  One of the most important inventions was his telescope.  With his telescope, he studied the night sky.  His most spectacular discoveries were the satellites of Jupiter and the rings around Saturn.  He collected evidence that supported the sun as the center of the solar system and not Earth as previously thought.  A fun fact about Galileo is that he almost flunked out of University of Pisa while studying medicine because he was bored with school.

The mascot for the House of Galileo is the giraffe.  The house color is red.  Wizards of the House of Galileo are confident inventors.  They are creative and work hard to bring about new ideas and thoughts.
