My overall research interest is in the collection, perpetuation, sharing and utilization of Knowledge of all types, with a special focus on Urban, Environmental and Historical knowledge.

Implementation of Urban Data Farming mechanisms in cities, using web 2.0 technologies and mobile apps to augment the emergent farming capabilities of municipalities, using a Complex Adaptive System approach.

City Lab

Research activities in Urban Knowledge Management are conducted by undergraduate and graduate students from WPI and other institutions, through City Lab, which I founded in 2003. The lab supports research that directly benefits WPI project centers or WPI grants. City lab also sponsors summer internships in Venice and Santa Fe for meritorious students and practitioners.
