My work is cool enough to spend a few hundred bucks each month on food from Costco...which is nice to have except when this happens:
I've now stopped eating the almonds here because they are always stale. Formally a healthy snack, I ignore them entirely unless it is a brand new bag because I hate biting into a soft, stale almond. Set aside the fact that someone is ruining an entire bag of chips, almonds, cereal, bread, etc. for other people...but as Adam has talked about on the podcast, do you hate yourself as well? Do you enjoy stale food? Why are you ruining it for yourself? Is this the only day you are working here and ever going to eat this food? Aren't you going to come back a day or two later for the same snack and realize that it is now inedible? What the hell? But the bigger point though is that this is not YOUR food! If you brought this and left it at your desk for yourself, by all means leave it wide open...but when it's for the community and you didn't pay for it, close it and have some common courtesy!
Worst part of it is that some sane individual put the almonds into a Ziploc bag to help preserve the freshness for the people too lazy to fold the top over itself...and of course one day later, there was the Ziploc bag wide open in all it's glory.
