Herd Sire II pictured above. He is 1/2 White Dorper 1/2 registered Katahdin. He was born on our farm in 2009. He was fast growing and heavy as a lamb. Botha is his fullblood White Dorper sire (click link below for our RAM HISTORY). His dam is full Katahdin and turned 8 yrs old in 2012. This ram is muscular with a nice top, has wide hind legs with good volume with a nice chest floor with good belly capacity. His strong structure is complimented with heavy muscle and good definition. With a brisk gate he displays nice agility. He has thick bone and forearm, level from hip to pin bone. Nice length through the cannon bone. He stops wide depicting his wide inside leg muscles. He maintains well on grass most of the year with some hay during winter months with a healthy fat cover. Sire II has excellent temperament which shows in his ram lambs selected for breeding. He is calm and confident with humans, sheep and dogs. His short wool undercoat that fast sheds leaving his lustrous tight all white hair coat after spring is warm over winter. His white hair coat is cool and clean over summer. Sire II produces fast growing heavy lambs that make market weight by 4 months.
Herd Sire I was sold in 2012. We sold him with some of our older ewes to start a new closed foundation herd for a gentleman in Carlton, Oregon. We used an exceptionally nice fast growing heavy ram lamb from 2012 to replace Herd Sire I. Pigee, our replacement ram lamb, weighed 140 pounds by 5 1/2 months, Thick muscular body with what appears to be a lustrous coat. Pigee goes back to our first generation, 9 years ago with heavy linebreeding on his dam's side with our White Dorper genetics. He is thick and heavy with beautiful silk hair over his face. He has a tight extremely short hair/wool fiber coat that sheds completely to a a soft velveteen sleek cover. He is the pink nose ram lamb on the left below. The dark nose ram lamb on the top/right was another fast growing heavy ram lamb. Misteree was bred to four ewe lambs replacing their moms sold with Herd Sire I. Misteree weighed 137 pounds at 5 1/2 months. He is 3/4 registered Katahdin 1/4 fullblood White Dorper. These fast growing ram lambs are only 2 months old in their photo below. Both have matured into heavy thick yearlings with gorgeous coats that fast shed. Both fast matured, bred early as ram lambs and produced nice thick heavy lambs with fast growth. The picture below was taken when they were only 1 3/4 and 2 months old. 2013 lambs from both sires below have been sold or retained for 2014 breeding.
Update: Both these sires are producing healthy fast growing lambs. They both have passed on the excellent coat genetics. Pigee has a gorgeous lustrous coat that is unusual. We used 4 herd sires this year for our 2015 lambs. They will arrive in April/May.
