A Humanitarian approach

Donald Jean Francois Humanitarian Filmmaker, after his University studies at The Montclair States University in New Jersey, He quickly refocused on what he always loved the most “making a difference in the lives of many in the country where he came from, Haiti.” His ultimate dream has always been ending poverty by focusing on sustainable development program; by connecting motivated villages to resources and tools to change their lives; by building skills, capacities and leadership of the villagers. He believes that an entire community can bring itself out of the cycle of poverty. It’s very simple he explains, “People were not born poor; they are born in a poor environment, and because they are the product of their environment, therefore they become poor. So, if we can help change their environment, then they will become a product of that new environment”. He emphasized that “if you change, everything around you will change.” His program motto he said is “Ending poverty by focusing on people, not projects”.

As a result of poverty, death, disease and natural disasters such as hurricanes, many people in Haiti are in desperate need. Children are particularly susceptible to these conditions and most often the little children are the ones who suffer the most. These children are in desperate need of help, beginning with the basic need for food for daily survival.

Donald jean Francois the president and founder of the organization “Care One Bit” its program helps children and families in Haiti. It focuses on providing food, medical assistance, Furthermore, helps the families to become more self-sufficient through some sustainable developing program. Donald Jean Francois has been able to feed about 175 children weekly in The Northeastern part of Haiti Terrier-Rouge. Imagine being able to eat only one good meal a week. With the feeding program Donald Jean Francois wish to be able to feed the children everyday. His approach is clear that “we should give them a fish while teaching them how to fish, because no one can learn on an empty stomach.”  This is especially important with the recent hurricanes leaving so many children orphaned, homeless, starving and hopeless.

As a Humanitarian Filmmaker his recent documentary “One child at a time” has touched the heart of many viewers and believes would interest big media outlet like CNN “hero of the year”, BBC World News, the Oprah Winfrey Show, PBS television, Link TV, HBO documentary, BET and many more. He is committed to use his documentary to bring awareness to the international community and get them to be involved and help make a difference in these children and families’ life.

Donald Jean Francois fulfills an important need in Haiti; He not only feeds the children but also provides the sick with medical assistance in Haiti. The program is very successful with the need to expand its services throughout the entire land of Haiti. The challenge is to find funding for this life changing efforts.  He can not do it all by himself, he would like to invite you to be part of his journey and become an agent of agent change.
