The Behaviour Bench
Inspired by the standard molecular biology “lab bench”, BNS developed a modular workstation for designing and prototyping behaviour experiments. The BNS Behaviour Bench combines a high-performance computer, assorted components (sensors, actuators, micro-controllers, optics, etc.), and prototyping equipment into a mobile platform. The bench equipment list (attahced below) defines a standard tool-kit for modern behaviour experiments; this list will evolve as technology changes/improves and with every iteration of BNS. Furthermore, each bench computer utilizes the latest open-source software tools to acquire, control, and analyse behavioural experiments. One bench, including the computer, costs ~4K €.
For 2016 edition of BNS at Cajal-Champalimaud there will be 10 Behaviour Benches!
