Introduction

Hi, I’m Cade Richins. I’m currently studying towards a master’s degree in Instructional Technology from the University of Wyoming. I plan to graduate in the spring of 2019. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Weber State University in Advanced Radiologic Sciences. Previously I worked in the medical field as part of the imaging department at IHC Hospital. There I enjoyed working with and helping people. My positive experiences there lead me to my decision to teach. Currently my little family and I live in Evanston, Wyoming where I teach high school religious education as a seminary instructor. This is my 4th year teaching seminary. During that time my work experience included responsibilities as a principle, instructor and distance education coordinator.

My portfolio is designed to help people see my professional goals, skills, and experiences with teaching and learning. As a student my portfolio helps to engage, challenge, and nurture my education. In my studies my aim is to expand my skills in instructional design and learn to evaluate the influence technology has on the classroom. My education is helping me seek to be more productive, relevant, and accessible as an educator.

My goal as a religious educator and as an emerging instructional technologist is to enhance my student’s learning experience through the integration of technology and design into the classes I teach. My philosophy for teaching includes providing an inspiring and interactive learning practice. I believe teaching and technology are really about people and relationships. Technologies and instruction should increase learning through better student engagement, collaboration and communication.
