7i - Project - Wildlife Center SF colony

In late summer 2017 CRP with the help from Master Gardeners and other volunteers planted a colony of 120 endangered Santa Fe

cholla and the Espanola Wildlife Center. The planting was done to test different growing parameters. Six 30' circles were marked off. In 3

of them the native growth was left alone. In the other 3 all native growth was removed. The circles were then planted with 20 plants in each.

Also in each circle have the plants were protected by cages. Finally, two plots planted with SF cholla(one bare and one with native growth)

will be watered during growing season every two weeks. (This site is an offical site registered with the State Botanist)

The site will be monitored to see how the different parameters will effect the colony.
