Morning Walk

Benjamin Hoffman

I wake up.

I go out for a walk.

It is a peaceful morn'.

I see my reflection in a puddle.

I say to myself, it is a new day.

It is a good day.

The wind blows my hair to and fro.

The repeat of wind blowing on my face

makes me drowsy as I walk along.

I spot the sunrise behind a tree.

This is why I always like Saturday mornings.

The birds chirping to each other

like spy communication

A neighbor's dog slowly walks up

as if saying hello.

Our walk is a perfect match

with the quiet houses,

except for a little white dog,

then everything is loud again,

as if that bark was catching.

As we turn around,

I know I will never forget

this wonderful walk.
