Player Evaluation Criteria:
Physical Fitness: Assessment of speed, agility, and overall strength.
Skills: Evaluation of throwing mechanics, fielding, hitting, and bunting abilities.
Coachability: Observation of attitude, punctuality, commitment to practice, and preparedness (e.g., arriving with appropriate gear).
Team Selection:
Varsity: Made up of the top players, regardless of grade level. Playing time is earned through performance and effort; it is not guaranteed.
9A: This is the next highest-level team, selected based on skill. Like Varsity, playing time must be earned and is not guaranteed.
Important Notes:
Team Dynamics: Team rosters are not permanent and may change throughout the season to meet the program's overall needs. Players may be moved between teams at any time.
Playing Time: Playing time—including roles such as FLEX or DP—is earned through consistent effort in practice, demonstrated skills, and positive behavior. It is not guaranteed.
Team Selection: Questions about team placement can be directed to the head coach. The coach will discuss what was observed during tryouts and offer guidance on areas for improvement—these conversations will only take place with the player present. Please note that the coaching staff will not discuss the placements of other players.
Playing Time Concerns: Coaches will not engage in discussions about specific playing time decisions. However, they are open to discussing skill development and behavior with players and parents to help the player work toward earning more time on the field. Remember—playing time is earned through practice and performance.
