An internship hosting 2 interns from Sophia University took place from March 1st to 18th, 2022 at the Embassy of Burkina Faso in Japan.
Below, an article that Mr. HOSAKA wrote for Sophia University website:
Article about the internship experience
at the Embassy of Burkina Faso in Japan
Mr. Ryusuke HOSAKA
Faculty of International Liberal Arts Department of International Liberal Arts 2nd year
I wanted to do an internship at the Embassy of Burkina Faso in Japan because I wanted to deepen my understanding of African politics and culture and learn diplomacy through working at the Embassy. Since the career of a professional staff member of an international organization, which I am aiming for in the future, will certainly require knowledge of diplomacy, I participated in the internship with an awareness of learning practically the operations of the embassy, diplomacy and international affairs.
At the Embassy of Burkina Faso in Japan, during a three-week internship, I discovered the functioning of the embassy with Ambassador Pascal BATJOBO and various positions through conferences and operations. I have often had occasion to see documents used in a workplace, such as documents to be submitted to the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso, passport applications, visa forms, birth and marriage certificates, so I learned a lot from that.
In addition, I had the opportunity to create Burkina Faso's presentation document to be used during HE Ambassador's conferences, to translate and add Japanese subtitles to an English video on investment in Burkina Faso. Through this internship at the embassy, I was able to get a better idea of how diplomacy really works.
Thanks to the training I had at the Embassy of Burkina Faso in Japan, I became even more interested in working in an international organization than before.
Also, thanks to this internship, I became more interested in Burkina Faso and Africa as a whole. I want to continue developing the different things I learned during the three weeks at the Burkina Faso Embassy in Japan and lead them to my future career.
