For this project, students will observe, describe, and respond to cultural codes communicated in a piece of visual media. Students analyze a form of visual media, either a television commercial or a music video, and make an argument about it. As they analyze, students will correctly incorporate ideas (summary, paraphrase, quote) the articles from Peggy Orenstein and/or Jean Kilbourne article to support their assertions on the visual rhetoric and cultural codes presented by the chosen media.
