Youth Protection Training

Over the past 110 years, the Boy Scouts of America have instilled the values of the Scout Oath and Law in millions of youth, preparing them to make ethical decisions while facilitating a secure environment for their development. Safe Scouting practices and youth protection are at the heart of the Boy Scouts of America and the Laurel Highlands Council’s mission.

In order to continue providing a safe and secure environment for today’s youth, the Boy Scouts of America have developed a new version of the Youth Protection Training program taken by all volunteer and staff. The new training, which is fully supported and endorsed by the Laurel Highlands Council, can be accessed via the link below.   

Instruction for taking the Boy Scout Online Training

1.     Log on to : www.scouting.org


2.     Click on “My.Scouting Login” at the top right side of the screen. This will bring you to the login screen.


3.     If you already have your User Name and Password for “My.Scouting” go ahead and sign in. They should be the same that you used to set up your account to take Youth Protection Training.


4.     If this is your first time on “My.Scouting” you will have to set up an account for “My.Scouting”.


5.     Once you have signed into “My.Scouting” you will be on a page that has a list of updates to the program. At the top, left hand of the screen there will be the word “Menu”. Click on the word “Menu” and you should get a drop down box, Click on “My Dashboard”.


6.     This will take you to the Training Page. Across the top will be four tabs:


7.     Once you have completed the training follow the instructions to print the certificate of completion. Keep a copy for yourself and give one to the Troop Committee Chair.
