Memorial Day Weekend Service Opportunities

Post date: May 25, 2018 1:52:32 PM

Troop 90,

We will be participating over Memorial Day Weekend in several events to honor our deceased military veterans. Please consider taking time out of your weekend plans to participate.

Borough Memorial Day Service

Forest Hills Borough Lions Club will hold its annual Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 28, 2018, beginning at 11 am, at the new Borough Building on the Greensburg Pike.

They have asked for scouts from Troop 90 to help set up chairs, be the color guard, and play Taps for the ceremony. Scouts must wear Class A uniform, and arrive at 10:30 am to help set up.

Lunch will be served by the Lions Club, immediately after the ceremony in the Recreational Lodge on Barclay Avenue, across the street from the new borough building. All are invited to lunch.

This is always a meaningful service, please plan on participating.

Honoring our Deceased Military on Memorial Day - UPDATE

Troop 90 will be participating with Pack 90 over Memorial Day weekend by placing US flags besides the grave sites of our deceased military veterans who are buried in All Saints Braddock Catholic Cemetery on Brinton Road. There are two opportunities to help.

On Friday, we will meet at 5 PM at the Russell Cemetery (also known as Braddock Cemetery on Google Maps). It's located on Locust Street, off of Brinton Road near Grand View Golf Course. It will take about 2 hours to cover all of the grave sites here.

Then on Saturday, we will meet at 9 AM at All Saints Catholic Cemetery on Brinton Road across from the self-storage center. If you look when you drive by currently, most of the graves have been covered, but apparently there are still many more on the other side of the hill to do.

Please come in Class A uniforms when you can no matter how long you might be able to stay. This is a VERY important service to our country and to those who have died to preserve our freedom.

Remember that we will also be conducting our swim tests at the YMCA in Wilmerding on Friday from 6-7 PM so please keep that in mind.

Scouts should wear your Class A uniform and bring water. Any questions should be directed to Mr. Galloway.

We will meet by the entrance near the big museloem.

Sign-up sheets are on the website.

Thanks,

Andrea Williams
