Meeting Follow-up

Post date: Nov 15, 2017 5:18:13 PM

Starting on this coming Saturday and Sunday, Liam Reinert will be working on his Eagle Project, the refurbishing and repainting of a mailbox to serve as a flag retirement drop point in front of the new Forest Hills Borough Building. On Saturday, the primary work being done will be the removal or treatment of rust on the mailbox,

and on Sunday the plan is to finish rust treatment or to apply the first layer of primer to the outside of the box. On both days, we will be meeting at 45 Kenmore Avenue starting at 10:00 and ending around 3:00. Food and drinks will be provided. It is not necessary to bring any equipment, though work gloves may be desired.

Additionally, we will need a pair of drop cloths for when we apply the primer to the mailbox. If you have any you would be willing to lend to us, we would appreciate it.

Please contact Liam Reinert at ljreinert@gmail.com or call 412-727-6288 (home number) for more information.

Please note the change in the pick-up date-Pick-up of popcorn will be on November 17 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. No Saturday pick-up was available at the distribution center. No volunteers have stepped up to help get the popcorn from the distribution center to the FHP and we can still use the help. We would meet at the church at 4 and leave at 4:15 to pick up the popcorn. Please contact richard.kilpatrick70@gmail.com or see him at the meetings.

A Scout is Reverent, and a great opportunity to live the final point of our Scout Law is by going to the annual Ten Commandment Hike on Friday, November 24, 2017. In this hike, a group of Scouts and Scouters from across the Laurel Highlands Council go on a walk in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh where they visit many houses of worship for different religions and learn about those religions. Please click HERE to register or for additional information.

I have in my possession two metal leaf rakes, and a regular metal rake, that were used for the service project at last weekend’s camp-out. Let me know if you are missing rakes that you sent in with your Scouts.

The Troop Committee would like any registered adult whose Youth Protection Training expires 2018 or earlier to go ahead and retake the course now.
