What we do

The Psychology Section has several duties.

Events

The Section organises events at the British Science Festival, to help promote the very best of UK scientific psychology to a general audience. The festival is held every September in a different UK location.

If you would like to be involved in the festival or to organise an event, please read our guidance and get in touch via the contact details at the bottom of the page.

Event organisers benefit from the intensive national media coverage at the Festival, as well as communicating their research to audiences of the general public.

The Section submits proposals for events to the British Science Association scientific committee who determine whether they fit the themes and priorities for the next Festival.   Submission deadlines are normally in October the year before the next festival.

For a list of previous events, please see the BSA event timeline.

The Section relies entirely on donations, if you would be interested in sponsoring an event, please via the contact details at the end of the page.

Prizes

The Section assists in the selection of the Experimental Psychology Society and British Science Association psychology undergraduate prize winner for best project, who then presents her/his work at the British Science Festival. More details on how to propose a student project can be found here, and previous winners can be found in the Undergraduate project prize winner section.

The Section also nominates candidates for the British Science Associations awards.
