Once you have earned the First Class rank, your Scouting focus will shift to earning merit badges, helping to lead the troop, performing service projects, and teaching scouting skills to your patrol and/or younger scouts. Each rank requires you to earn a certain number of Eagle required and elective merit badges. In addition, you need to serve in a leadership position, and perform at least 6 hours of service towards the community, your church, school, or other Scoutmaster approved organization. Once you have completed each requirement, you need to discuss your achievement with one of the troop adult leaders.
