The Ann Murray PTA Clothing Bank was established in the late 1950s to solve a major truancy problem – some students were not in school because their parents were unable to provide suitable clothing. In recent years, the clothing bank has provided clothing to over 3,000 children per year. All students served are referred by a social services agency or by the student’s school. A request form is needed by the family in need. Those forms may be given by the school. Volunteers and clothing are always needed to keep this service alive. BCCPTA/PTSA requests local units to help us keep the clothing bank open by organizing clothing drive in their school or community. There is also a county-wide drive held at least once a year. The clothing bank is open during the school calendar year until Memorial Day. It is not open during school holidays or on teacher workdays. The Clothing Bank is coordinated by the Clothing Bank Committee under the direction of the Clothing Bank Chair. We have two clothing bank locations. The first is at Lauderdale Manors Resource Center, 1400 NW 14th Court, Building 4, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311. The Lauderdale Manors location is open by appointment only. Please contact Dawn Yates at 754-322-6650. The second is at Apollo Middle School, 6800 Arthur Street, Hollywood, FL 33024, and is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays by appointment only. Please contact Renee Grutman at 954-648-0366 or 754-323-2900. Both locations are closed on school holidays and teacher workdays, and for the summer.
