National Event Results 2009
The 2009 National Specialty Show was held in Calgary Alberta the first weekend of August and a Booster held in Ontario. The BSCC Field trial was held just outside Calgary.

Versatile - The members were asked to nominate the dog who exemplified the versatility of our breed, there were a few dogs nominated from across Canada, and the voting was very close. Top honours went to AFTCH FTCH CH Kinwashkly Smoking Hank FDX.

A huge thanks to Sherri Johnson who managed to organize this whole event. And everyone who participated appreciated all the work that was involved. All the Junior Handles were extremely excited to enter the ring with Brittany’s at the end of their leash. The Juniors are the future of our sport and it was great to see them having fun and showing off our Brittanys.
Field
The Brittany Spaniel Club of Canada Spring 2009 Field Trial was held at the Deyell’s Ranch in Alberta; this year we were in for a surprise as Jim Deyell had purchased a brush cutter for his tractor, and he manicured course with the precision of an English Gardener! The changes to the course actually add extra time to the course, and made the judging easier as there were clear cut adjectives and it showed which dogs could really hunt. First time Field Trial Secretary, Tom Doherty did a fantastic job, under the watchful eye’s of Kim Brunen & Sue Deyell, as he learnt that there is a lot of work behind the scene’s of what usually appears to be a effortless job. Once again the Brittany Club hosted lunches both days ensuring that nobody went hungry, and we would like to thank all the donations that were made to the raffle table and to all that purchased tickets. A huge thanks to all the Judges, as we all know it is usually a thankless job, except for the winners. Thanks to the Deyell’s for their quad so that we could plant the birds along the course, and still be able to take sneak peeks at the dogs on the ground. A huge congrats to all the placing dogs and their owners, come back again next year!
