THANK YOU TO ALL WHO AUDITIONED. This was an extremely talented group and everyone should be really proud of how you performed at auditions.
Casting a show can be exciting because you feel the show beginning to come to life, but it is also a bit tedious and stressful. We spent long hours over the past week and had to make truly tough decisions. We were blown away by how hard you worked, your determination to impress us, and the talent you demonstrated. You made us laugh and brought us great joy! We are excited that this list is strong and dynamic, and well rounded.
Please trust and respect our decisions, and know that you didn’t make it easy on us. However, we believe we have created the best possible combination to showcase the talent of the musical theater program and pull off this challenging, special show. We are fortunate we had such talented young singers/actors/dancers to choose from. Even less featured roles (there’s no such thing as a small role) have incredibly talented people filling them. Keep in mind - this is about the realization of a dream and inspiring our audience with an amazing show. Every single person involved will benefit, learn skills, make friends, and make memories. You will never take anything away from that experience if you don’t have that positive outlook.
If you did not receive an on-stage role, please consider attending our Off-Stage Cast Interviews on Monday, Nov 25. We have interviews running every 10 minutes starting at 2:30. The link to sign up is located under Audition Sign Up on this site. We need all hands on deck to do this show and we have lots of roles to fill! Being a part of the cast in any capacity will be a fun and impactful experience and we look forward to working with you! You should fill out a crew application but do not need to redo your conflict calendar.
One more word to the wise – unfortunately, not everyone today ended up with their dream role. Sadly, that’s the nature of “the business” of theater. There are only so many roles to go around. So if you earned a role in the cast, and you happen to feel that the role you earned was not the role you wanted, just remember that many of your peers would love to be in your shoes. There are plenty of people who desire to be where you are – on stage in a Brighton Musical production. Handle your excitement OR disappointment with grace and caution – watch what you say to others and what you post online – while you are celebrating, others may be hurting and vice versa.

WHAT TO DO NOW?
Mark you calendar for:
Dec 03, 3:30p-6:30 First rehearsal/Table read, all onstage cast meet in the LGI room (across from band room). Bring a pencil and highlighter, water. *You may pick up a script from Mrs Stuenkel Monday, Nov 25 in the DRAMA room if you want, otherwise we will have it for you at the table read.
Dec 04, 3:30-5:30 Cast Round Up in the LGI, old choir room. This includes all members of the On Stage Cast, Off Stage Cast/Crew and Pit Musicians. We will set you up on Virtual Callboard, write bios, measure for costumes and address other administrative details and directions. Headshots will also be taken, so look nice and wear a solid black shirt (NO LOGOS OR GRAPHICS)
PRINT and sign (wet signature by student and parent) the Role Acceptance Form. When it is signed proceed to step 3 below.
UPLOAD it to your online MUSICAL ENROLLMENT FORM no later than Dec 13, so that we know you have committed to your role. If you are waffling about your decision, we encourage you to read this short blog post: (http://jedscott.com/accept-any-role
You will receive an email invite to sign up for Virtual Callboard in the next 48 hours. Please set that up ASAP to start seeing events and specific rehearsal dates/times. If you click on a date, you can see what acts/songs/dances are being rehearsed, and based on your part, whether it involves you. When in doubt, ask a DIRECTOR! Don’t trust that because your friend said you didn’t have practice that you don’t. Do not add personal conflicts or appointments to the VCB calendar. We will give you some pointers on using VCB, how to add text notifications and parents, etc. at cast round up but we want you on it asap.
Remind your parents: We have a mandatory Parent Meeting on Wednesday, Dec 04 at 7:00 PM in the media center. This meeting is critical for your parent/guardian to understand your commitment and the expectations that come with it. One of the great things about the Brighton Musical family is that it is truly a village! Please be talking with your parents about ways that they might get involved in our production. We will need parents to work on set building, painting, costumes, hair/makeup, marketing, ticket sales, flower sales, ushering, distributing posters and yard signs, etc. There will be an opportunity at the meeting for them to sign up for a team they would like to serve on!
