Is it time to paint or replace your mailbox or post?
The Briarwood South Association Covenants state "The size, type, location, design, color and materials used for all mailboxes shall conform to the specifications established by the Declarant." (Article III, B. 10)
Previously if a mailbox or post was damaged, replacements could be obtained from Kimberley Development.
This is no longer the case.
If just the box is damaged and needs replaced these boxes are listed as Large or T2. They are also sometimes referred to as rural mailboxes, but that is sometimes also used for the standard sized box which is a T1 sized box. The smaller, T1, boxes are not the size needed. The box is secured to the post by four sheet metal screws and is easy to remove the damaged box and replace with the new one.
If the post needs replaced, the board has researched posts which comply with the covenants. Three were found. The board has selected the less expensive post because it most closely matches the original mailbox posts used in the neighborhood. The other two options have a fancier post cover which would not match those in the neighborhood.
Was your mailbox damaged by a snow plow?
If a mailbox is damaged due to direct contact by snow removal equipment, the City, at its option, will repair, replace or reimburse the property owner.
