About Mr. Braune

Hello!  My name is Will Braune, and I am the music teacher at Sunnyside Elementary in Olathe, Kansas.  I began teaching at Sunnyside in 2018, but first came to the Olathe School District in 2015 so I could teach closer to my family.  My wife is a 2nd grade teacher in Olathe, and we have three children. Before coming to Olathe, I taught elementary music in the Lee's Summit R-7 School District from 2007-2015.

I earned my Bachelor of Music Education from the Conservatory of Music and Dance at The University of Missouri- Kansas City, and my Masters of Educational Technology at Webster University.  While at UMKC, I had the opportunity to perform with many different orchestral, choral, percussion, and wind ensembles. I currently play percussion with the Overland Park Civic Band, but I have also performed as a percussionist for the Fountain City Brass Band, the Northland Symphony Orchestra, and The Philharmonia of Greater Kansas City. I spent four summers as a percussionist for the Des Moines Metro Opera and eight years as the principal timpanist for the Lee's Summit Symphony.  Teaching is by far my strongest passion, but I still love performing music when I can!
